Belgian Prime Minister Mocks Trump To His Face At NATO Over FIFA Interference

Donald Trump couldn’t escape his embarrassing interference with the FIFA World Cup during a NATO summit in Turkey on Wednesday as Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever mocked him for it to his face.

The World Cup tournament in the United States has been humiliating for Trump on multiple levels. Opposing teams and fans from other nations have been openly mocking him through songs and chants. Referees and players from other nations, such as Iran, have found themselves under blatantly racist immigration policies forcing them to stay in other host countries and endure unnecessary restrictions, surveillance, searches, and outright harassment by ICE goons.

But the most humiliating incident in the tournament by far was when Trump personally called FIFA President Gianni Infantino to request a review of a red card issued to American player Folarin Balogun in an earlier match. A red card, according to FIFA rules, triggers an automatic suspension. But Trump used his close ties with Infantino to get the suspension overturned- political interference that drew worldwide backlash, especially from Belgium, whose team would face the United States in the next bout.

However, it would backfire on the American team as the Trump curse went into full effect, and Belgium would win the game by a score of 4-1.

So, it’s understandable that Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever would want to rub salt in Trump’s wounds on Wednesday when the two came face to face at a NATO summit. During a discussion about providing an $80 billion military aid package to Ukraine, De Wever used the red card incident as a tool to educate and mock Trump, according to the Associated Press.

“This is also a very strong ‘red card’ to Putin,” De Wever said. “You can’t just take back a red card. You know that.”

Trump’s humiliating interference with the World Cup has followed him overseas to bite him at a NATO summit. Once again, our nation is a joke on the international stage.
