Speaker Of The House Elon Musk? Rand Paul’s New Dumb Idea Explained

When Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley said “Speaker Johnson: maybe it’s just easier to hand your gavel over to Musk” concerning the government shutdown, it was supposed to be sarcasm. But the GOP is considering doing just that. Now that Elon Musk is effectively President-by-tweet, GOP Senator Rand Paul has decided that Speaker of the House Elon Musk sounds like a splendid idea — and he wants to actually do it.

You know how the framers of the Constitution frequently failed to predict how stupid American society would become? This is one of those times. The Constitution does not require the Speaker of the House to be a member of the House or a government official at all. Technically, it could be any raving lunatic off the street. A raving lunatic like Elon Musk.

Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution only says that “The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and other Officers.” As long as the person they nominate receives a majority of votes, they’re in. This even applies to illegal immigrants like Elon Musk. Though Democrats and Republicans had a deal worked out to keep the government running, Shadow President Elon Musk decreed on Wednesday that the government should be defunded, emoting “YES” to the asinine idea.

“Just close down the govt until January 20th. Defund everything,” the tweet says. “We will be fine for 33 days.” In 2018, Republicans shut down the government over border wall funding. We absolutely were not “fine” for the 35 days that shutdown lasted. Not only did federal employees go unpaid during that period, but our economy lost around $11 billion. Republicans also shut down the government in 1995 because Newt Gingrich didn’t like that healthcare, education, and other things Republicans hate were receiving funding. We absolutely were not “fine.” Republicans shut the government down in 2013 over Obamacare, creating a $24 billion loss for our economy. We were not “fine.”

Democrats have joked about Elon Musk being in charge of the House of Representatives. Now, Rand Paul wants to make it a reality.

Speaker Of The House Elon Musk?

Democrats and Republicans had hammered out a deal that included $100 billion in disaster funding, billions for farm assistance, and other necessary spending. Until Wednesday, it looked like the deal would go through — until Elon Musk rattled off over 100 tweets containing misinformation and lies. Musk claimed falsely that the deal shielded members of the January 6 committee from Trump’s wrath, funding for “bioweapons labs,” and a new NFL stadium, among other things.

After Musk gave the order, Trump came out against the deal and that was that. Republicans decided that a functional government simply was not a priority. The vote was canceled.

Now, Rand Paul says Elon Musk — who is in effect President already — should be in charge of the House of Representatives so he can continue to bring this kind of damage-doing expertise to the table.

“Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk,” Paul says. “Think about it. Nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds).”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who recently admitted her party is full of sexual abusers, pedophiles, and other criminals, also asked her constituents in her newsletter if they would support Speaker of the House Musk.

“I’d be open to supporting @elonmusk for Speaker of the House. DOGE can only truly be accomplished by reigning in Congress to enact real government efficiency,” Greene said on Twitter. “The establishment needs to be shattered just like it was yesterday. This could be the way.”

“It’s one thing when you have Donald Trump governing by tweet, as he did in his first term, where he was in communication with Congress, but now you have Elon Musk, an unelected oligarch, governing by tweet,” Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman said Wednesday in response to Musk’s meddling. “This is absurd.”

It’s clear that Elon Musk is the man in charge and Donald Trump has been relegated to the role of Vice President at best. How long will Trump tolerate being relegated to a role of subservience, of a glorified signature-signer to Musk’s worst ideas? In any case, Musk is calling the shots and everyone knows it.
