As Easter morning began on Sunday, Donald Trump took to social media again to threaten Iran in a post featuring vulgar language and mockingly praising Allah.
Just the day before, Trump shouted the Christian equivalent of “Allahu Akbar” at the end of a social media post threatening Iran’s destruction if the country continues to refuse to open the Strait of Hormuz, a trade route through which 20 percent of the world’s oil supply flows. Trump desperately wants the waterway open since his attacks on Iran have caused oil and gas prices to soar.
Trump has already admitted that he doesn’t care about higher gas prices, even though Americans are already struggling in his poorly run economy. But Iran has opened the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers from other nations, easing rising gas prices in countries that are not engaged in Trump’s folly of a war.
As Trump continues to face open revolt at home, he once again escalated the conflict by threatening Iran again on Easter Day, this time even mockingly praising Allah.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran,” Trump wrote. “There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F—– Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
Trump has repeatedly threatened to commit terrorist attacks and war crimes against Iran. Conducting military strikes against Iranian bridges and power plants would turn our military servicemen and women into terrorists and war criminals because these are civilian targets that would result in civilian casualties.
Mockingly praising Allah in a post threatening terrorism and war crimes against Muslims is the equivalent of taking God’s name in vain. It’s an insult to Muslims around the world. Inflaming the Muslim world could unite the Middle East against us. Our Middle East allies are already feeling the retaliatory attacks from Iran after Trump launched his attacks without consulting them. Insulting their religion isn’t going to go over very well.
Trump’s mouth is harming the United States just as much as our bombs. We can’t threaten or bomb our way out of this, and the humanitarian cost is turning our allies against us. We cannot wait any longer to remove him from power. It’s time to force Trump out and hold him and his cronies accountable.
