The federal government unveiled a website on Monday that focuses on maternity care, but Donald Trump demanded that his name be put on it because he only cares about himself, moms be damned.
As the United States continues to rank last in maternal health among high-income nations, Trump and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz pretended to care about mothers in yet another PR stunt at the White House the day after Mother’s Day.
The new website provides information on maternity health that may be untrustworthy, since Trump’s Cabinet picks like Oz and RFK Jr. frequently promote false information and products that run counter to established recommendations from the medical and scientific community.
During the event, even as it was supposed to be about mothers, Trump made it about himself by whining that the website doesn’t have his name on it.
“In recognition of this ambitious agenda to support American mothers, today we’re announcing a new website that is online right now,” Trump said. “It’s moms.gov.”
“Well, I like TrumpRx,” Trump told Oz. “I think I love moms, but I like TrumpRx. You put me in there, I gotta make sure. It gives me competition now.”
This is beyond anything we have ever seen in our nation’s history. A president desperately obsessed with slapping his name on anything and everything. He’s forced his name upon the Kennedy Center. He’s putting his signature on money. His face appears on National Park passes and will soon disgrace our passports.
It’s the kind of dictatorial behavior that would have sent right-wingers into an absolute tizzy if former President Obama had done it. They’re hypocrites. And they’re dangerous. This is a cult, and it must be wiped off the face of the earth. Everything and anything Trump does should be reversed. His name should be removed. And if his ballroom and arch are built, they should be torn down immediately.
None of this should be allowed to stand. Because we all know if a Democrat did it, Republicans would be screaming bloody murder.
