Donald Trump’s dementia was on full display Wednesday morning as he seemed to believe that MAGA candidates in Arizona had taken control of the state even though they only won their primary races instead of the general election, which takes place in November.
It was a dark day for the Republican Party in Arizona on Tuesday evening as candidates backed by Trump swept their primary races, marking a further shift to the right by the state GOP. But to hear Trump describe it in a social media post bragging about it, you would think the MAGA candidates had won their general election races instead of their primary races.
“MAGA CANDIDATES WON EVERYTHING LAST NIGHT IN ARIZONA, A COMPLETE SWEEP!!!” Trump screamed in all-caps on Truth Social. “I WON ARIZONA 18 MONTHS AGO. THE DUMOCRATS ARE DUMBFOUNDED. AFTER DECADES, ARIZONA IS BECOMING A REPUBLICAN STATE. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!”
Again, these candidates only won their primary races. They still have to face Democratic candidates in the general election in November, no matter how much Trump wants to believe that they’ve already won. Furthermore, Arizona is a swing state now. It had been a Republican state in the recent past, but then Governor Katie Hobbs (D) won her election four years ago, and Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) won his race to replace the late Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) in the United States Senate.
Hobbs is up for re-election and is the Democratic nominee. She will face Trump-backed election denier Andy Biggs. However, Hobbs currently leads Biggs in the polls, according to Newsweek. Trump only “won” Arizona by five points in 2022 and may have had help rigging the results from Elon Musk.
None of Trump’s MAGA moron candidates have won “everything.” And, if anything, Democrats must be elated that they get to face stunningly incompetent candidates they can tie to Trump’s terrible record. His candidates haven’t really won, and neither has he.
