GOP Senate candidate Ken Paxton faces a tough Democratic opponent in his Texas race this year, and it’s clear that the primary problem he has is his marital infidelities, which were called out during a tele-town hall this week.
Paxton, who is endorsed by Donald Trump, is desperately trying to convince voters in Texas that he’s the real Christian candidate in his Senate race. His opponent, James Talarico, is a Presbyterian minister, a literal man of faith who practices what he preaches, including the Biblical command that thou shalt not commit adultery.
That’s a tough one for Paxton, who broke that commandment by cheating on his wife of nearly thirty years. Paxton is also corrupt and was impeached by the Texas House of Representatives in 2023 before being saved by the equally corrupt Texas Senate.
But it’s the extramarital affairs that have taken center stage in Paxton’s campaign. A recent Paxton event was interrupted by hecklers who were shouting about his cheating as Paxton tried to attack Talarico’s Christianity.
And now Paxton has been called out again for his hypocritical behavior during a tele-town hall that left him in an awkward position.
“Hi Paxton, nice to meet you,” said the caller. “I’m just wondering — why did you cheat on your wife?”
“Um. I’m not going to talk about personal issues that relate to my family, just like I don’t think you would want to discuss your marriage on a call with thousands of people,” Paxton replied. “All I can tell you is that I’m proud of my kids.”
But are Paxton’s kids proud of him? He betrayed their mom in the worst possible way despite presenting himself as a Christian man. He has the gall to question Talarico’s faith despite his very un-Christian behavior. Texas voters have a clear decision here. They can either elect a corrupt fake Christian to the US Senate, or they can elect Talarico. Their choice will reflect on them as a state.
