House Republican Throws Hegseth Under The Bus After Angry Voters Revolt

Pete Hegseth is facing impeachment, and Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) threw him under the bus after angry voters gave Democrats control of the House and Senate on Election Day.

The situation in Iran continues to escalate as Hegseth and Donald Trump plan a possible ground invasion that will be bloodier and more costly. The unprovoked war has already driven up the price of gas and groceries across the country. Inflation is high. American bases in the region have been rendered useless. Over a dozen American troops have already been killed. And our defensive missile supply has been depleted.

Trump’s Iran folly has been a complete disaster, so escalating it is the wrong decision, no matter how many times Benjamin Netanyahu calls the Oval Office to beg for additional action.

Hegseth hasn’t made the situation any better by firing experienced generals and officers who are key to fighting a war of such magnitude. His treatment of our troops overall has been horrid. His conduct throughout the conflict, which began in February, has been bad enough that members of Congress are looking to impeach him.

As a Republican, Comer would normally be expected to defend Hegseth from impeachment, but that’s not what he did during an interview on Friday when asked about the strong possibility of Hegseth being replaced due to pressure from angry voters, especially MAGA voters who feel betrayed after Trump promised no new wars.

“Well, that’s gonna be a decision that President Trump’s going to have to make, but I can tell you with a high level of confidence that there’s a lot of questions about Hegseth,” Comer said. “We have no idea what the strategy is moving forward in Iran. No one’s happy about Iran.”

“And I think the Republican voters are more upset about what’s going on in Iran than the Democrat voters,” Comer opined. “That’s all I heard from Republican voters, people that have been MAGA for the last 12 years, MAGA flags in their yard, wore MAGA caps. I mean, they are mad that we’re in this situation in Iran, and they’re mad over gas prices, and a lot of them stayed home.”

Indeed, Democrats scored a historic midterm victory on Tuesday, retaking the House and Senate by comfortable margins, as well as flipping several governorships and state legislatures. Whether Hegseth will be fired or impeached remains to be seen, but after the shellacking Republicans suffered on Election Day, it’s clear that they can no longer count on their voters to support them no matter what.
