“Blacks for Trump” has spent years telling people that Donald Trump will pay reparations to the descendants of slaves. And indeed, Trump promises reparations — to whites. In an unhinged rant, The Donald says that he intends to fine schools that teach slavery was bad and whatever else “DEI” means these days and pay that money to white people who are offended that they have to learn that this country hasn’t traditionally been nice to African-Americans.
On Tuesday, Trump announced in a dystopian video that he intends to pay reparations to those who suffer “racial discrimination” because of “diversity initiatives” at colleges and universities around the nation. Conservatives have long attacked universities as dens of sin that ruin their children by teaching them things like “all people deserve respect” and other things they associate negatively with “liberalism.” Now that Trump has the presidency, the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court, all sorts of right-wing f*ckery is possible — because the guardrails of democracy are off and the safeguards protecting us from fascism are gone.
Trump says he will penalize colleges who so much as think about including “DEI” (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) — a term that conservatives apply to literally anything that teaches Black folks are human in any way. Teachers at all grade levels and in higher education are finding it difficult to so much as talk about how bad slavery was or mention that any minority group at all was mistreated without running afoul of right-wing “anti-DEI” policy.
Trump Promises Reparations To Whites
“Tuition costs at colleges and universities have been exploding, and I mean absolutely exploding. While academics have been obsessed with indoctrinating America’s youth, the time has come to reclaim our once-great educational institutions from the radical left, and we will do that,” Trump says in the video. “Our secret weapon will be the college accreditation system.”
Trump says that “accreditors are supposed to ensure that schools are not ripping off students and taxpayers, but they have failed totally.” He alleges — falsely — that “radical Left accreditors” have pushed Marxist and anti-American ideologies on students. Because of this, he intends to mess with schools’ funding.
Trump’s plan is simple: if a school so much as acknowledges that White people have traditionally had it easier in the United States than others, or tries to be inclusive, or does anything else in the wide range of things Republicans think are “DEI” but aren’t, he will fine the school. This money he steals from education will then be used to pay “restitution” to white people “injured” by the big scary DEI monster.
Stephen Miller’s America First Legal has already been harassing schools and other businesses with a string of with “anti-white discrimination” lawsuits, but it’s not just him. Right-wing legislators have written and enacted policy designed to combat “discrimination” against Whites. Educational institutions and those who work at them are forced to live in fear because one day, someone might realize that the very people who oppose DEI policies today (and everything they just think is “DEI”) once protested against school integration — and that could end a career in Trump’s America.
