So much for checks and balances! If anyone thought there was hope of the branches of our government operating independently or keeping each other in line, Senator Tommy Tuberville killed that dream. On Thursday, Tuberville said in an interview that career criminal Donald Trump and sycophant J.D. Vance ‘are gonna be running the Senate.” For Americans who are familiar with Trump’s policies, this is a five-alarm nightmare scenario.
In an interview regarding Senator John Thune’s election as Senate Majority Leader, Tuberville was asked if Thune would “push hard for Trump’s agenda. Tuberville responded that “he has no choice.”
“There was a mandate that says we want President Trump to have his team. We want to take back our country,” Tuberville says. “Republicans if you’re not on the team, get out of the way.” Tuberville adds that Thune “will be on the team.”
“I think he’ll do a good job,” Tuberville adds, before revealing that “President Trump and J.D. Vance are gonna be running the Senate.”
Tuberville has previously held up military promotions and affected the lives of hardworking and loyal servicemen and women because he felt like grandstanding on Pentagon abortion policy. At one point, Tuberville singlehandedly held up over 450 promotions. He eventually gave up on his game because he felt like going home for the holidays.
The idea of Trump consolidating government into a single branch with only him in charge is terrifying. This is absolutely not what anyone voted for — even MAGA, as they will soon learn — and cannot be allowed to happen. The Trump administration was already shaping up to be horrific with Matt Gaetz as Attorney General and Russian asset Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. Now, with Trump’s cronies choreographing his plan to completely take over the government, the nightmare is real. It’s here. And we as Americans must stop it somehow.
