DHS Mouthpiece Claims Trump Is ‘Restoring American Values’ By Livestreaming Execution

In an insane defense of Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth planning to livestream the execution of Fort Hood mass shooter Nidal Hasan, Department of Homeland Security minion Markwayne Mullin called it part of Trump’s effort to “restore American values.”

The barbaric plan risks turning Hasan into a martyr that will inflame the Middle East and Muslims around the world, something Hasan wants more than anything. Yes, he murdered 13 people, but granting him martyrdom by making his execution public only puts the United States in danger.

The United States has not publicly executed anyone since 1936, and for good reason. We shouldn’t be glorifying death. We shouldn’t be making it a spectacle. If conservatives like Mullin are truly “pro-life,” they should at the very least be unwilling to air a bloody execution by firing squad for the whole world, including millions of children, to see.

Yet, Mullin had the gall to defend the decision on Sunday during a grilling on Meet the Press when host Margaret Brennan noted the potential risk of turning Hasan into a martyr, thus endangering the security of the United States.

“No one has to watch it,” Mullin said, evading Brennan’s main point. “But for me to have sympathy for anybody that killed 13 service members, and a scumbag like this that’s a psycho who was supposed to be a psychiatrist, I have no feelings towards him. At all.”

Mullin then slobbered over Trump and claimed that live streaming the execution is about somehow “restoring American values.”

“I follow President Trump,” Mullin said. “He’s a commander in chief of the country and he does a phenomenal job. He leads this country with a very, very, direct, forward, straight hand and he’s restoring America’s values and bringing where America should be back in line with what we want.”

The only countries in the entire world that still hold public executions are Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Saudi Arabia. These are all authoritarian nations. Are we really saying that American values are aligned with the values of these nations? If so, our country deserves to fall.
