Trump Openly Admits He Personally Approved Public Execution

Pete Hegseth announced on Thursday that the United States is going to join authoritarian nations such as North Korea and Iran by livestreaming a public execution. And now Donald Trump is gleefully taking credit for approving the deplorable idea.

Much to the horror of all civilized and humanitarian human beings around the globe, Hegseth took the Trump administration’s level of depravity to another level by declaring that the Pentagon will publicly livestream the execution of Fort Hood mass shooter Nidal Hasan by firing squad for killing 13 people in 2009.

“No brainer, execution by firing squad,” Hegseth told a right-wing hack. “Army major betrays his country, radical Islamist kills a bunch of Americans at Fort Hood. Of course we’re going to do it at Fort Hood. We’re going to do it on a Thursday. We’re going to do it at 1 o’clock, which is when he did it, and it’s going to be soldiers with rifles executing the firing squad. It hadn’t been since World War II since we’ve done that. Well, I kind of like the mentality we had in World War II, which was win, which was understand when the enemy attacks you, you need to stand your ground.”

Except a public execution is exactly what Hasan wants because he wants to be a martyr. Martyrdom will only result in more hatred of the United States and inspire the rise of more would-be terrorists who want to target us in the future. So, this is NOT the flex that Hegseth thinks it is. It’s going to backfire disastrously.

But while Hegseth touts the beyond-horrific and incredibly reckless idea that makes the Trump administration no better than jihadists who have released videos of themselves executing people by beheading, Trump himself is the one who gave it the green light.

“Did I approve it? Absolutely, I did,” Trump told a reporter when asked about it.

This is not just another reason why Trump didn’t win and will never win a Nobel Peace Prize, but it also puts him on par with the most bloodthirsty dictators in history. Our country has not held a public execution since 1936. And for good reason. It’s barbaric and does not deter future violent crimes.

Moreover, we shouldn’t do it because Hasan wants it. He knows full well that it will inflame the Middle East and likely create new terrorists who are more motivated to kill Americans than ever before. It makes our troops less safe. It makes American civilians less safe. We must stop this execution from being a public spectacle so we do not pay a price for it down the road.

And we must prosecute Trump and Hegseth for crimes against humanity.
