Pete Hegseth once again had to answer for his actions at the Pentagon on Wednesday during a hearing in which Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Penn.), a retired Air Force officer, left him stuttering as she called out his “immature” behavior.
Hegseth was in the hot seat over his firing of several top military officers, including Army Chief of Staff General Randy George, while our nation is in the middle of a war with Iran that has been dragging on for weeks because of incompetence by the Trump administration.
Firing several military leaders, especially competent leaders, has undermined morale at a time when our troops are faced with the possibility of dying for Trump’s stupidity as they commit war crimes on his orders.
Naturally, Americans want answers from the alcoholic Nazi-loving Hegseth, so Democrats hauled him into a Congressional committee hearing to grill him.
Houlahan demanded to know why Hegseth fired General George. Hegseth gave a non-answer.
“Out of respect for these officers, we never talk about the nature of their removal, but every one of them, including myself, knows that they serve at the pleasure of the president,” Hegseth said. “Ultimately, out of respect to these officers, we don’t reveal it. However, I will note it’s very difficult to change the culture of a department that has been destroyed by the wrong perspectives.”
“So General George destroyed the culture?” Houlahan asked the arrogant Hegseth in response, causing him to stutter.
‘There are many— We’ve gotten rid of many general officers in this administration because we need new leadership,” Hegseth replied.
“You have no answer, you have no way of explaining why you fired one of the most decorated and remarkable men who has served this nation,” Houlahan pressed.
“We needed new leadership,” Hegseth repeated. “That’s my answer.”
”So your answer is a very immature way of responding to my request,” Houlahan concluded.
It’s fairly obvious that Hegseth doesn’t like being called out by a woman. You can see the seething on his face as Houlahan takes him to the woodshed. This administration is not good for our military. They are destroying morale and turning our servicemen and women into villains who face being despised by Americans and the rest of the world.
It’s an institution that is losing trust and support. If our military is to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world, it must evolve, not go backwards. Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are making us less safe, and they need to be shown the door before it’s too late.
