Republican Senator Voices Support For Impeaching Pete Hegseth

A Republican Senator who voted to confirm Pete Hegseth as the Secretary of Defense is totally on board with impeaching him for his incompetence at the Pentagon as Donald Trump’s unprovoked war with Iran rages on.

Billions of dollars have been wasted by Hegseth since he took control of the Pentagon and the United States military. In fact, the Navy is running out of funding because operations in Iran are blowing up the budget. We’re also running out of missiles.

Furthermore, Hegseth’s policies are shredding the ranks as he denies promotions to women and non-white personnel while setting ridiculous standards meant to push others out. Hegseth has been a detriment to the command structure by firing experienced generals. He’s also forcing our troops to endure religious indoctrination while failing to maintain their supplies and morale. It’s the kind of mismanagement that threatens to weaken our military and national security.

That’s why Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) introduced articles of impeachment against Hegseth this week. But House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) sent the House home to avoid a vote, likely because there are more Republicans who would vote in favor of impeachment.

The House will eventually have to hold a vote on the matter, and if it passes, an impeachment trial would be triggered in the Senate, where there is at least one Republican who supports it.

Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) voiced his support for the impeachment effort on Thursday while speaking to the press.

“I’ll let the House do what the House is gonna do,” Tillis said. “I think I’m pretty well staked out on my assessment of Mr. Hegseth. This is not personal. I mean, people need to realize I worked as a management consultant. I went into companies and identified areas where they needed to improve. We’ve got a management problem here. He needs to go, whether it’s impeachment or the most expedient route — just the president to replace him — would be great.”

Pete Hegseth is a washed-up Fox News host who couldn’t hack it in the military himself, so now he’s desperately pretending that he can lead it. He can’t. He’s undermining it, and we are less safe for it. Tillis is right. Massie is right. Hegseth needs to go.
