If you’re going to be a grifter, it’s best not to accidentally say the wrong word that exposes you as a fraud. But that’s exactly what Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk did during a Turning Points USA convention this week.
Rather than spend her time grieving and guiding her children through their own grief, Erika Kirk took up her husband’s mantle as Turning Points USA CEO after his death. During the right-wing organization’s annual convention in Arizona, during which Grindr reportedly went down again due to increased traffic, Erika Kirk accidentally exposed the whole ballgame by using the wrong word during remarks recognizing a student named Caleb.
“Despite the devastating loss of Charlie Kirk, my incredible husband, at UVU, Caleb has persisted with the same grift,” Kirk said. Catching her own slip-up, Kirk shifted to “gift” and then to “grit” before claiming exhaustion as an excuse. “It has been a long day. Trust me, you’re not a grifter, honey. It’s all good.”
It’s quite the gaffe, but also about the only snippet of truth Erika Kirk has uttered since her husband died. She’s a grifter in charge of an organization of grifters. In the months immediately following Charlie Kirk’s death she has spent most of her time pushing lies about his demise, visiting Mar-a-Lago, and cozying up to J.D. Vance, all the while raking in the cash from gullible followers as if she, too, is a cult leader like Donald Trump.
This is not the behavior of a grieving widow. It’s the behavior of someone who knows more about her husband’s death than she lets on. She certainly knows his Turning Points USA organization is a massive grift. So much of a grift that it’s slipped out of her mouth in front of a live audience. It’s what every reasonable and sane person already knows. It’s just too bad that those in the cult refuse to see it.
