Gavin Newsom Humiliates House Speaker Mike Johnson’s Defense Of Prayer

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) used the Bible against House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Friday for whining about Democrats in the wake of the tragic Catholic school shooting in Minneapolis.

A gunman murdered two children and wounded 18 in a school shooting at Anunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday, leading to a renewal of calls for gun control laws as Republicans across the country trotted out their tired and useless “thoughts and prayers” talking points.

Democrats have been consistently calling for action to prevent mass shootings, while Republicans refuse to lift a finger to protect children unless they are fetuses. Criticism of the GOP’s “thoughts and prayers” talking point has been brutal. Johnson, who has been one of Donald Trump’s top bootlickers, attacked Democrats on Twitter in defense of prayer.

It should be pointed out that prayer has yet to stop or prevent a single school shooting, while mass shootings have only skyrocketed since the expiration of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban in 2004. Meanwhile, nations such as Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom have stringent gun laws in place and suffer few or no mass shootings.

In other words, actions are what prevent mass shootings, not prayers, something Newsom noted in response to Johnson by citing a Bible verse that Republicans have clearly never read.

The blood of hundreds of innocent victims is on the hands of Republicans. Their subservience to the National Rifle Association and refusal to enact sensible gun laws have made our country unsafe for families. The lives of children should never be worth less than a gun.
