ICE Director Admits Agents Are Using Nazi Tactics

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) grilled ICE acting director Todd Lyons so well that Lyons had no choice but to admit that his agency uses the same tactics as Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

As we all have witnessed since Donald Trump unleashed his ICE Gestapo upon the nation, these armed masked men have terrorized citizens and non-citizens alike using the same tactics as authoritarian regimes such as the Nazis.

They have outright executed Americans in broad daylight, including Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis. They ignore court orders. They kidnap children and imprison them in concentration camps. They violate our constitutional rights at every turn, including our 1st, 2nd, and 4th Amendment rights.

Trump and his cronies have repeatedly denied that ICE is out of control, and they’ve complained about ICE being compared to the Nazis. But while testifying to Congress on Tuesday, ICE acting director Todd Lyons had to admit the truth after being cornered by Goldman and his focus on ICE demanding proof of citizenship from people.

“Do you know what other regimes in the 20th century required similar proof of citizenship?” Goldman asked.

“Sir, there were various nefarious regimes that did that,” Lyons replied, as if that justifies what ICE is doing.

“Is Nazi Germany one?” Goldman pressed.

“Yes,” Lyons admitted.

“Is the Soviet Union one?” Goldman continued.

“Yes, sir, but I totally — This is the wrong type of question!” Lyons responded, drawing a rebuke from Goldman.

“You said in your opening statement that references to ICE as the Gestapo or the secret police encourage threats against ICE agents,” Goldman said. “The problem is you have it backwards, sir. People are simply making valid observations about your tactics, which are un-American and outright fascist. If you don’t want to be called a fascist regime or secret police, then stop acting like one. But people are simply just observing what they are seeing. And that’s why people are making those comments.”

No matter how hard Trump and his band of Nazi cronies try to spin it, they are following the Nazi playbook. If they don’t want to be called Nazis, they shouldn’t act like Nazis. It’s that simple. And when Trump is out of power, every single member of his administration should face the same end the Nazis did: Nuremberg-style trials and hangings.
