Putin’s Spy Chief Says Russia Helped Trump Win – And He’d Better Pay Up

Many people suspect that Donald Trump somehow cheated in the election. Americans — even those not typically prone to conspiracy-related beliefs — noticed that a lot of weird stuff happened on November 5 and the surrounding days. Now, Putin’s spy chief says Russia helped Trump win — and he’d better pay up or else.

TASS, a Russian government-owned and operated “news” agency, published a not-so-veiled threat if Trump doesn’t do as he is told. Shortly before Putin issued a statement denying a call that allegedly happened in which Trump urged “restraint” in Ukraine. Whether the call happened or not, Russia escalated attacks against Ukraine after it allegedly happened.

Did Trump really try to talk Putin into “restraint?” Perhaps, perhaps not. But it seems he might have, as Russian state-owned media felt the need to gently remind him of his place.

Putin’s Spy Chief Warns Trump To Fall In Line

Trump to rely on forces that brought him to power — Russian presidential aide
A headline from Russian state media agency TASS reading “Trump to rely on forces that brought him to power — Russian presidential aide”

TASS “reports” — and we do use this word lightly, as it is simply a mouthpiece for the Russian government — that Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev had some harsh words for Trump, who he reminded Russians (and The Donald) “made many statements critical of the destructive foreign and domestic policies pursued by the current administration” during his candidacy. But he had a lot more to say. Via TASS:

In his future policies, including those on the Russian track US President-elect Donald Trump will rely on the commitments to the forces that brought him to power, rather than on election pledges, Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev told the daily Kommersant in an interview.

“The election campaign is over,” Patrushev noted. “To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces to which he has corresponding obligations. As a responsible person, he will be obliged to fulfill them.”

In other words, Putin — through an underling — is reminding Trump that Russia helped him win the election. How is not specified, but Patrushev reminds Trump that he has made promises Putin expects will be kept.

In the same interview, Patrushev was asked if Trump may be pressured “so that his actions do not diverge from the plans of the American elites, primarily the so-called deep state.” The spy chief replied that there have been two attempts on Trump’s life and “attempts have been made on the lives of presidents and candidates regularly — more than 20 times.” He then points out that four sitting Presidents have been assassinated. “Therefore,” he says, “it is extremely important for US intelligence agencies to prevent a repetition of such cases.”

So What The F*ck?

What promises did Trump make? What was the nature of the aid Russia allegedly provided? Both of those are very good unanswered questions and we don’t know much. We know that Trump has told voters for a long time that they don’t need to vote because he “has enough votes.”

We know high-population Democratic districts were targeted with bomb threats associated with Russian email addresses on election day. And we know that there were a lot of issues with vote tabulation, many of which have likely not even been caught, and that a lot of those happened to be in counties that received bomb threats.

We know Joe Rogan claims Elon Musk had a special app that allowed him to see the results of the election before anyone at all had reported.

We also don’t know anything concrete. All evidence is anecdotal. All we do know is that Trump absolutely would cheat if he could — and now he’s been publicly accused of cheating by someone who allegedly helped him do so. We also know that he’s been very, very quiet since the election.
