Donald Trump’s Homeland Security advisor, Stephen Miller, also known as Pee-Wee German, dared to invoke legendary crooner Frank Sinatra in an anti-immigration rant on social media, only for it to spectacularly backfire.
Miller is virulently anti-immigrant to the point where he is pushing mass deportation and concentration camps, spreading white-supremacist propaganda along the way. If there’s to be a trial for crimes against humanity at The Hague for members of the current administration, Miller should be at or near the front of the line.
Ever the propagandist, Miller couldn’t even take a break from the hate during the Christmas holiday, writing on social media that Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin represent an anti-immigration American vision.
Of course, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Stephen Miller is illiterate when it comes to American history. Had he done even a little homework before posting this trash, he would have known that Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were born to Italian immigrants, a class of immigrants who were considered third-world and were treated with disdain.
Martin would select a stage name to go by instead of his birth name, Dino Paul Crocetti, while Sinatra would keep his name and explain why in an obviously pro-immigrant remark:
“Of course, it means something to me to be the son of immigrants,” Sinatra said. “How could it not? How the hell could it not? I grew up for a few years thinking I was just another American kid. Then I discovered at five or six that some people thought I was a dago. A wop. A guinea. You know, like I didn’t have a f*cking name. That’s why years later, when Harry [James] wanted me to change my name, I said no way, baby. The name is Sinatra. Frank f*cking Sinatra.”
In addition, Sinatra cared deeply about the poor, advocated for desegregation, and openly campaigned and voted for some of the most liberal politicians in US history, including Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, and Adlai Stevenson.
Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin would hate Stephen Miller’s guts.
