Donald Trump continued his pettiness this week by adding unfounded smears against former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden in his ridiculous “Presidential Hall of Fame” in the White House.
Trump has had a vendetta against Obama for years, especially after Obama humiliated him during a White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Trump pushed the conspiracy that Obama had hidden his birth certificate, only to be further humiliated when Obama released it.
Continuing his petty effort to retaliate, Trump invented an unnecessary space in the White House that he calls the “Presidential Hall of Fame,” which now features text labeling Obama “one of the most divisive political figures in American history.”
“Barack Hussein Obama was the first Black President, a community organizer, one term Senator from Illinois, and one of the most divisive political figures in American History,” the text reads. “As President, he passed the highly ineffective ‘Unaffordable’ Care Act, resulting in his party losing control of both Houses of Congress.”
Of course, this is not true. Obama won the presidency twice and had higher approval ratings than Trump. Historians also regard Obama as an effective president and one of America’s best, unlike Trump, who ranks near or at the bottom and has had consistently low approval ratings. As for the Affordable Care Act, it actually makes healthcare more affordable, particularly in red states where subsidies have helped pay for costs. Trump and Republicans in Congress aim to kill those very subsidies, a move that will result in skyrocketing premiums.
Trump also took nasty shots at Biden, whose portrait is an auto-pen, even though Trump himself uses an auto-pen. Calling Biden “by far, the worst President in American History,” the text goes on to accuse Biden of “Taking office as a result of the most corrupt Election ever seen in the United States.”
“Biden oversaw a series of unprecedented disasters that brought our Nation to the brink of destruction,” the text claimed.
Again, more unfounded smears. Biden’s presidency had restored sanity and calm in the White House. Biden didn’t spend his days rage-tweeting or throwing tantrums. There’s also no foundation to Trump’s claim that the 2020 Election was corrupt. In fact, Trump lost every lawsuit he brought to court because he could not produce any evidence of fraud. He’s simply a sore loser. And again, Trump is consistently ranked as one of the worst presidents in history. Meanwhile, Biden is ranked much higher.
Trump’s petty crusade to rewrite history to make himself look better by comparison is laughable, and everything he has done should be reversed as if he never existed.
