As part of a conspiracy to build a nationalist movement in Europe, Trump bestie Jeffrey Epstein and former Trump advisor Steve Bannon plotted to “take down” the late Pope Francis, who stood in the way of his European plans.
The Epstein files continue to be a massive source of disturbing revelations. Donald Trump is named at least 38,000 times in the files that have been released thus far, and could be named as many as one million times, more than any other name.
The files reveal the names of wealthy and powerful men around the world who are involved in Epstein’s child sex trafficking operation, but it also reveals plots against world leaders who do not agree with Bannon’s and Trump’s Nazi worldview.
According to a new CNN report, Bannon communicated with Epstein to conspire against Pope Francis by turning a book about the Vatican into a film to embarrass the Pontiff, which they believed would force him to step down.
“In his messages with Epstein, Bannon references ‘In the Closet of the Vatican,’ a 2019 book by French journalist Frédéric Martel that lifted a lid on secrecy and hypocrisy at high levels of the church,” CNN reports. “Martel created a storm with his book by claiming 80% of the clergy working in the Vatican are gay, while exploring how they keep their sexuality secret.”
“Bannon showed an interest in turning Martel’s book into a film after meeting the author in Paris at a five-star hotel,” the CNN report continues. “In the messages, Bannon appears to suggest that Epstein could be the film’s executive producer. “You are now exec producer of ‘ITCOTV’ (In the closet of the Vatican),” Bannon wrote.”
“Will take down (Pope) Francis,” Bannon wrote in a 2019 email to Epstein unearthed in the files. “The Clintons, Xi, Francis, EU – come on brother.”
Trump and his cronies frequently attacked Pope Francis for opposing their racist and sexist worldview. Pope Francis was overwhelmingly popular around the globe for being a strong advocate of human rights and aiding the poor. Sadly, Pope Francis passed away in April 2025. Pope Leo XIV is the new Pontiff, but he too stands against the nationalist anti-immigration brand that Trump and Bannon are pushing.
These new revelations make it clear that right-wing extremists are plotting to take down anyone who disagrees with their toxic views, even religious leaders.
