Trump/Netanyahu Run Away As Reporters Shout Questions Following Joint Presser

US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a joint press announcement from the White House’s State Dining Room this afternoon, where the two controversy-steeped world leaders announced their new proposed peace plan to bring an end to Israel’s ongoing occupation of Gaza.

The pair’s “peace” deal has already sparked controversy and criticism from observers around the globe, as both Trump and Netanyahu openly failed to include any leadership from Hamas — the terror group that remains deeply involved in the ongoing conflict and whose agreement to any peace deals would be paramount for the deal to even be effective — in their peace plan discussions.

Nevertheless, both world leaders attempted to present their new peace deal as a resounding success to the press as well as the American, Israeli, and Palestinian people.

However, for all of their alleged and apparent trust in their new peace plan, it certainly seemed that neither world leader was eager, or even willing, to actually speak to the press about it — despite the dozens of questions being pelted at them from a room full of reporters.

Donald Trump unsurprisingly took the lead with the press and was quick to make it clear that neither he nor his Israeli counterpart would be taking any questions.

Instead, he simply ended the event, stating that it would not be “appropriate” to take questions from reporters on the peace plan that they had gathered reporters to hear about.

“So I think while we wait for these documents to be signed and get everybody in line, I think it maybe is not really appropriate to take questions,” Trump told the State Dining Room full of reporters this afternoon.

Donald then took this opportunity to divert from the Israel/Gaza topic entirely by attempting to throw in a little good old-fashioned Democrat-bashing, as he turned his attention to the impending government shutdown that he, of course, blames on everyone but himself and his own party.

“I’m meeting with, as you know, a couple of Democrats in a little while about the country, about keeping our country open up. They’re going to have to do some things because their ideas are not very good ones. They’re very bad for our country. So we’ll see how that works out. But this is something that was really historic today. This was something that was amazing,” he told reporters.

He then turned to Netanyahu and offered the Israeli leader a chance to take a few questions from a “friendly Israeli reporter,” if he so desired.

“I think maybe I mean, depending on you, I think while we’re waiting for signatures and waiting for approvals from a lot of different countries that are involved in this, we probably shouldn’t take questions,” Trump told his Israeli counterpart. “Or would you like to take a question or two from perhaps a friendly Israeli reporter, if there’s such a thing?”

It seemed Netanyahu was equally uneager to face the press regarding the big peace deal, responding, “That’s a very, very tough proposition,” prompting some of the gathered reporters to laugh. “But I would think, Mr. President, that I would go by your instinct that this is a — we’ll have enough time for questions. Let’s settle the issue first, I think.”

Given that a peace deal between Gaza and Israel actually is a huge deal at this point, multiple reporters naturally attempted to shout their questions out anyway. However, they all fell on deaf ears as both world leaders promptly exited the stage, leaving the White House State Dining Room thick with unanswered questions and an air of unsurprising disappointment we’ve all grown accustomed to.
