Trump Promises Blanket Pardons To WH Staffers For Their Continuing Criminality

Donald Trump is apparently promising blanket pardons to his White House staffers if they continue to help him violate the Constitution and commit crimes, according to a new Wall Street Journal report.

As calls for prosecutions and impeachment grow, Trump’s minions are increasingly worried about being held accountable. But Trump is reportedly assuring them that he will issue a blanket pardon to shield them before he leaves office.

“The president has repeatedly raised the specter of pardons with White House aides and other administration officials, particularly when staff have suggested they could face prosecution or congressional investigations over decisions, people familiar with the comments said,” the Wall Street Journal reports. “Trump is known to joke about matters that he later seriously pursues, and the frequent references have led some aides to believe he is serious about the pardons, too.” 

Clearly, this is a promise from Trump that he will abuse the pardon power of the presidency as long as his cronies continue their corrupt behavior to carry out his authoritarian agenda. When the Founding Fathers designed the Constitution, they surely never intended the pardon power to be used in such a way. It basically allows the president to be a tyrant and get away with it by issuing blanket pardons to everyone who committed treason for him. Trump could even pardon himself and his family.

None of this can be allowed to happen. Waiting for the midterms is too long. And it’s not like Democrats will control enough of Congress to actually impeach and remove Trump from office anyway. Republicans will block it like they did the first two times they impeached Trump at the end of his first term.

That makes ouster by force the only practical solution to ending this nightmare early and making sure Trump and every single one of his cronies face the consequences for their crimes against our country.
