Trump Throws Temper Tantrum After Virginia Votes For Redistricting Plan

Virginia let the voters decide, and they approved a redistricting plan favorable to Democrats. Now, Donald Trump is throwing a temper tantrum about it and demanding intervention by the courts.

When Trump and Republicans sought to redistrict in red states to add more GOP seats so they could rig the 2026 midterm election in their favor to keep power in Congress, they apparently didn’t consider that blue states could do the same.

Of course, while Democrats in California and Virginia put the issue to the voters to decide, Republicans in Texas and Missouri didn’t give voters a voice in the process at all. After Virginia voters approved a plan that could add several Democratic seats to the House of Representatives, Trump is crying foul by claiming the election was rigged just because the GOP lost the vote.

“A RIGGED ELECTION TOOK PLACE LAST NIGHT IN THE GREAT COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA!” Trump screamed on social media on Wednesday.

“All day long Republicans were winning, the Spirit was unbelievable, until the very end when, of course, there was a massive ‘Mail In Ballot Drop!’ Where have I heard that before – And the Democrats eked out another Crooked Victory!” Trump continued.

“In addition to everything else, the language on the Referendum was purposefully unintelligible and deceptive,” Trump whined. “As everyone knows, I am an extraordinarily brilliant person, and even I had no idea what the hell they were talking about in the Referendum, and neither do they! Let’s see if the Courts will fix this travesty of ‘Justice.’”

The referendum language was actually quite clear:

“Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?“

As for the courts, just the idea of Trump ordering the Virginia Supreme Court to help him should be enough to make them recoil and rule in the Democrats’ favor. The last thing this body of judges needs is to be viewed as overtly MAGA when they strive to be non-partisan.

The people have spoken. The courts must respect that. And because Trump is a sore loser and doesn’t respect that, it’s all the more reason for the Virginia Supreme Court to let this redistricting plan stand and go into effect this year.
