Texas State University protest on 11/7/24. Protesters are holding signs declaring "women" and "slaves" property

Texas conservatives declaring women and “slaves” are “property” swarmed a college campus on Thursday following Donald Trump’s upset of an election win. While some have said that women are not threatened in a second Trump administration, the Right has wasted no time coming out in force and proving the danger to women is real. In San Marcos, Texas State University was besieged by a crowd of right-wingers who had a message: marginalized groups in America are “less than.”

CBS Austin reports that the group, which is not affiliated with the college and includes no students, waved signs reading “homo sex is a sin” and “women are property.” One sign declared “slaves” to be property as well, in case you wondered what might be on the Right’s wish list under a Trump regime.

Sign-Waving Bigots Invade Texas State University

The raving mob of bigots invaded Texas State University, gathering outside the Johnson Student Center and spewing hate. “I don’t think there’s any room for that on this campus,” said Cade Crockett, a student at Texas State who noticed the gathering on the way to class. “I think it’s very shameful that people assume that it’s okay to promote this behavior, promote this bigotry.”

Texas State University Police were forced to respond to the “protest” to ensure students’ safety and administrators locked down the building.

The group, which identifies as the “Official Street Preachers Organization,” are no strangers to being awful. The group has interrupted events all across the country for years with one message: hate. Hatred of women. Hatred of the LGBTQIA+ community. Hatred of anyone darker than a piece of chalk. Hatred that will be mainstream under a Trump administration, because this group’s message is not far off from mainstream MAGA ideology.

Texas State University issued a statement explaining that the school “supports the First Amendment and is required by state law to uphold freedom of speech in public areas on our campuses, even if such speech may understandably offend some members of our campus community.”

Notably, the statement did not condemn the content of the protest. Hundreds of counter-protesters showed up to condemn the hatred spewed by this disgusting gaggle of Deplorables.
