Donald Trump is closing the Kennedy Center for the next two years for “renovations” shortly after most performers canceled their dates at the beloved location in protest of Trump adding his name to the memorial honoring former President John F. Kennedy.
Trump made the bloated announcement over the weekend, all while claiming that he intends to basically gut the institution that has been in constant operation for the last 55 years. Presumably, Trump wants to transform the Kennedy Center into something that honors himself. This follows his previous efforts to erase JFK and his enduring legacy, including paving over the Rose Garden and adding his name to the center above Kennedy’s, which is illegal.
Americans, including members of the Kennedy family, jumped to mock and criticize Trump immediately after the announcement.
Again, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is a living memorial honoring an assassinated leader. Trump shouldn’t be allowed to touch it. He’s desecrating it in a desperate obsession to glorify himself. But Trump does NOT deserve glory or honor. He belongs in prison or at the end of a rope. He’s a pedophile and a rapist.
He’s a convicted felon who has repeatedly committed treason against our country to enrich himself. There is no reason for Americans to continue sitting on the sidelines while a wannabe dictator destroys this nation from within. We have the power to end this today, and we should.
Several decades ago, Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for our country.” It’s time for us to ask ourselves that question once again. It’s time to rise up and save our country. Because if we wait too long, there may not be much left to save.
