Trump Writes Whiny Appeal As His Name Is Pried Off The Kennedy Center

Washington, DC

Americans by the thousands are watching with anticipation as Donald Trump’s name is being removed from the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. But that didn’t stop him from writing a whiny stay request to the court to pause it.

When Trump narcissistically added his name above Kennedy’s to the center last year, it immediately drew mass backlash. Not only was Trump desecrating a living memorial to stroke his own fragile ego, but he was also costing taxpayers money, and did not receive congressional approval for the change since it was an act of Congress that named the institution decades ago.

The Kennedy Center has been the heart of American culture and the arts in Washington DC ever since, but Trump’s attempt to slap his name on it did significant harm as many performers canceled their planned appearances in protest.

However, a federal judge ordered the Kennedy Center to remove Trump’s name in a ruling last month that sent Trump into a hissy fit in which he called for arresting the judge or impeaching him. On Friday, Americans across the country were able to watch live as a crew removed Trump’s name, a preview of what is to come when Trump is no longer in the White House.

But in a desperate move, Trump apparently wrote portions of an emergency stay request himself based on the language, claiming that removing his name is itself a harm to the Kennedy Center. The appeal appeared to threaten that all money from donors would be returned, and the institute would be deprived of funds, if the order stands.

“Without the name, ‘Trump’ on the Building, our fundraising will not only come to a halt, but any and all monies raised or committed would be obligated to be returned, refunded, or terminated,” stated the filing, adding that “people and companies, who have given, or will be giving, millions of dollars to the Center were only willing to do so with the name ‘Trump’ on the Building. Many did it because they loved the concept of two Great Presidents, one Republican, one Democrat, working together as one.”

This is all bullshit, of course. Trump’s name is not necessary, and never was necessary, to bring in donations. The Kennedy Center was doing just fine financially until Trump and his cronies took it over.

The institution is a memorial dedicated to the memory of slain former President John F. Kennedy. Trump’s name does not belong on it or anywhere near it. And the judge agrees, which is why he denied the stay request, and Trump’s name is coming down, just like it’s going to come down from anywhere Trump slaps it by any means necessary when he’s gone. And when he’s gone, there will be no such memorials dedicated to him.
