NBC Host Smacks Down Mike Johnson’s 2020 Election Lies

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) parroted Donald Trump’s 2020 Election lies on Sunday during Meet the Press on NBC, forcing host Kristen Welker to call him out.

Trump has long claimed that the 2020 Election was somehow rigged against him, even though he has never produced a single piece of evidence to prove it. In fact, he LOST 60 court cases in the wake of his defeat because he didn’t show any evidence of fraud.

Fast-forward to 2026, and Trump is STILL claiming that the 2020 Election was rigged, most recently making the false claim in front of the world at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he also made a fool of himself and called himself a dictator.

In response to a question about Trump’s obsession with the 2020 Election, Mike Johnson continued to play the role of loyal toadie by calling the 2020 Election an example of why Republicans must focus on election “integrity.”

“What’s healthy for our country and our democracy is for everyone to be laser-focused on election integrity,” he said, drawing pushback from Welker.

“But that’s not election integrity, Mr. Speaker,” she said. “This was asked and answered and litigated and relitigated; the page has been turned. He’s still talking about an election that he lost, allegations which have been deemed, claimed, false.”

Indeed, former President Joe Biden rightfully won the 2020 Election, and that’s why Trump is so sore about it. He can’t stand that he lost, so he’s hoping that repeating his lies about the election often enough will make them facts. They don’t. They just make Trump look pathetic.

Johnson claimed that there were “irregularities” in the 2020 Election, which Welker also smacked down.

“State and federal election officials called 2020 the most secure election in history,” she pointed out. Indeed, Biden won 306 electoral votes on 81 million popular votes, beating Trump by a comfortable margin. Even Republican election officials have no idea what Trump is talking about when he makes all these false claims.

Johnson tried to use Georgia’s sending out mail-in ballots to everyone as an example of fraud, even though this was done because of the pandemic in multiple states. Welker once again shot him down.

“The Republican-led governor has pointed out it’s been years, and no one has ever come forward under oath with evidence of fraud in Georgia,” she said.
