Donald Trump continued to air his fantasy of being a dictator during remarks made at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, as his ICE Gestapo continues to violate constitutional rights, and he toys with invoking the Insurrection Act to cancel the midterm elections.
Trump’s appearance at the event also comes as he threatens to use military force to take possession of Greenland against the will of the people, and even though it is an independent territory under the jurisdiction of Denmark.
An invasion of Greenland threatens to spark a massive conflict between the United States and NATO, so the last thing world leaders wanted to hear was that Trump wants to be a dictator. But that’s exactly what Trump implied as he claimed that his speech was well-received (it wasn’t).
“I can’t believe it, we got good reviews on that speech,” Trump said. “Usually they say, ‘He’s a horrible dictator type person. I’m a dictator.’ But sometimes you need a dictator.”
Trump’s speech was far from well-received. He confused Greenland and Iceland on multiple occasions, waffled on whether he intended to use military force to take it, and claimed he has a “framework” of a deal to get Greenland.
World leaders laughed at Trump while making it clear that they are prepared to do whatever is necessary to prevent the United States from violating the sovereignty and independence of NATO members. Once again, Trump was a raving lunatic on the international stage, an embarrassment to our country, and an example of why it’s long past time to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office before he does even more damage.
Republicans, however, don’t care. They are content with letting Trump continue his reign of terror, making the idea of revolution even closer to being an acceptable solution, and perhaps the only solution to end this flirtation with tyranny in this country once and for all.
