Trump Brags About Lindsey Graham’s Bloodthirstiness Hours Before Eulogy

Republicans feigned outrage when Americans took to social media in the wake of the death of Senator Lindsey Graham earlier this month to point out how horrible a human being he was, especially his thirst for war. Now Donald Trump is bragging about it on Fox News on the day he’s supposed to be eulogizing him.

Graham unexpectedly passed away on July 11th, and the immediate reaction was overwhelming joy that he’s finally gone. Trump even responded by using Graham’s death to lobby for the passage of his voter suppression bill. Graham’s body wasn’t even cold yet.

One of the main points made about Graham is that he was bloodthirsty and constantly supported wars, including Trump’s unprovoked war in Iran that has killed thousands, including hundreds of innocent children and 18 American troops.

The truth outraged Republicans, who expect nothing but nice things to be said about them when they die, even if they were, in fact, horrible people in life. It’s like talking about Hitler’s love of painting without mentioning that he orchestrated the Holocaust and started a global war.

On Tuesday, just before he is due to eulogize Graham, Trump called into Fox News and bragged about Graham’s thirst for war.

“I mean, Lindsey liked war, to be honest with you, okay, and I said, you’re a nice guy,” Trump said. “How come you like war so much? He was a guy that liked war. I jokingly say, and there’s nothing funny about it, but he’s never seen a war that he didn’t like.”

“He was very much into that — you know, for good reason,” Trump continued. “He felt that way; some other people feel that way. But he was very strong on the military. Very strong on the military, and I built a great military, and he helped me. We built it during my first term, and we use it now, but I built a great military.”

Our military is currently facing a crisis due to a defensive missile shortage, which is Trump’s fault no matter how much he tries to blame former President Joe Biden. That doesn’t make our military great. It makes it vulnerable and our country less secure. Trump’s and Graham’s bloodlust has literally made the United States weaker and reviled around the world.

But Trump’s remarks to Fox News also undercut all of the complaints Republicans have about criticizing the dead. Trump’s remarks even undercut those by Graham’s own sister, who laughably insisted to the network earlier that her brother loved peace, not war.

Lindsey Graham does not deserve to rest in peace. He deserves the ridicule. He deserves to be remembered as a bloodthirsty warmonger who threw his best friend, the late Senator John McCain, under the bus to support Donald Trump. His legacy is being a horrible human being, and that will stand the test of time.
