Trump Calls For Journalists To Be Shot For Telling The Truth About Him

Donald Trump continued his wannabe dictator routine during an Arizona rally on Wednesday by calling for the execution of government whistleblowers and journalists.

Freedom of speech has been constantly under assault by Trump. Journalists, in particular, have been one of his favorite targets. Trump has already accused media outlets of treason just for accurately reporting on his administration instead of feeding his propaganda to the public.

As we all know, treason is punishable by death, so Trump was literally calling for journalists to be executed when he leveled the false accusations. Furthermore, Trump has frequently complained about government insiders leaking information to the outside world, especially when it comes to his plans for the ongoing unprovoked war in Iran that he started in February.

On Wednesday, Trump aired his grievances about journalists and whistleblowers during yet another sparsely attended rally in Arizona, where he openly called for both to be shot for exercising their freedom.

“Leakers should be — my opinion, leakers should be shot,” Trump said. “In the old days we used to shoot leakers, you know, when they leak what time you’re going to attack a country.”

Of course, that’s not true. Historically, the government has asked news outlets to delay publication of information if it’s too sensitive. That doesn’t mean they can prevent it from going public. Furthermore, while Trump continues to falsely claim that war in Iran is necessary because it’s about preventing the Iranians from obtaining a nuclear weapon, he went through a slew of other excuses before settling on that one.

“Now leakers should be dealt with very, very strongly,” Trump continued. “They’re the scum of the earth. The leakers are the scum of the earth! The fake news media doesn’t want to talk about how well we’re doing. They’re almost as bad as a leaker, because they leak false information that makes them a leaker, oftentimes without a source.” 

This kind of tyrannical rhetoric has no place in American society. It’s a complete slap in the face of the Constitution. Trump has been a disaster for the United States, despite how much he claims otherwise. Gas prices are still higher than they were under the Biden administration. So is inflation. So are grocery prices. Our military has run out of missiles, and military leadership has been gutted.

Trump’s policies are destroying the economy, weakening our national security, and making us an international laughingstock. Trump is even making deals with Russia at the expense of our allies. He’s also stoking political violence here at home. That’s the real treason. And we all know what should happen to traitors.
