Donald Trump is not taking care of our servicemen and women, and the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln is proof, as their families describe increasingly harrowing conditions on board the aircraft carrier.
Before starting the unprovoked war with Iran, we should have known that Trump was up to something sinister when he sent the USS Abraham Lincoln to the Middle East in November of last year, just a couple of months before launching missile strikes that killed 165 Iranian schoolgirls and touched off a regional conflict that has no end in sight.
Gas prices are higher. Grocery prices are up. Inflation is higher than it was before Trump took office. 18 American troops are dead. And our long-range missile supply is nearly depleted. It’s been nothing short of a military and economic disaster for our country. Now, it appears our troops are suffering from low morale and a severe shortage of supplies is pushing them to the breaking point.
According to a report by MS NOW, several families of USS Abraham Lincoln crew members have blown the whistle on the terrible conditions their loved ones are facing.
“Most sailors are working excruciatingly long shifts, and depending on their job, some are rarely getting a day off, family members told MS NOW,” the report said. “One father, who is a Navy veteran, said his son described seeing holes that have worn through the Lincoln’s flight deck.”
The ship and crew have been working non-stop for nine months, more than the usual seven-month deployment. They’ve also only taken a short two days’ worth of breaks off the ship during that time. It’s so bad that the ship doctor or therapist has warned that the sailors could begin to “lose their minds” if they don’t get some extended time off.
It gets worse, however. In addition to smaller food portions and rationing during this stressful time, “many described their kids or spouses telling them about non-operational toilets, moldy showers, laundry facilities that were broken for weeks, and extended periods with no hot water for showering.”
The ship’s store also “often lacks basic supplies like toothpaste, soap and deodorant.” Clearly, the health and lives of these sailors are threatened. The Pentagon gets nearly a $1 trillion budget every year, yet our sailors aren’t getting the basic supplies and facilities they need. Just where are our tax dollars going? Trump’s pocket? Pete Hegseth’s pocket? Because the money is certainly not being spent on our troops.
Trump claimed he made the military “great” again. He lied.
