Trump Delusionally Thinks He Draws Larger Crowds Than Martin Luther King Did

In yet another sign of absolute delusion mixed with narcissism, Donald Trump had the gall to claim that he drew more people to his sparsely attended July 4th in Washington DC last year than Martin Luther King Jr. did on the day of his “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963.

While taking questions from reporters in the gaudily decorated Oval Office on Thursday, Trump was speaking about his plans to desecrate the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool when he decided to pivot into comparing his crowd sizes with those of the late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in the same location.

“The Lincoln Memorial has a beautiful reflecting pond, lake, they call it a pool, lake, and pond. But the word ‘reflecting’ is a good term,” the always crowd-size-obsessed Trump said. “It was built in 1922, and it was built out of granite and various stones on the bottom, and it never looked great because it’s not really meant to be a stone that’s underwater for that much of a period of time. It’s about a foot-and-a-half to two feet deep. You all know it well. That’s where Martin Luther King gave his great speech, and he had a million people, and I had the same exact crowd — maybe a little bit more.”

“But they said I had 25,000 people on July 4. I have pictures of Martin Luther King’s crowd, my crowd, everything, but it was 70-years difference,” Trump continued. “The exact same crowd, but I actually had more people, but that’s okay. They gave him a million people. They said a million people. I had 25,000 people…on July 4th.”

Trump’s July 4th event in 2025 was laughable, as only a small number of Americans actually bothered showing up to it. Trump didn’t stage this event to celebrate America. He did it to celebrate himself as a wannabe dictator. Only 25,000 people showed up.

And while MLK did not draw one million people to his celebrated speech in 1963, he did draw approximately 250,000. That’s ten times the number Trump’s ego-stroking event drew. Trump was also apparently conflating King’s event with the “Million Man March” event that took place in 1995. Sounds like Trump’s dementia struck again.

With any luck, history will keep repeating itself, and Trump will once again find himself embarrassed this year as well when he stages yet another July 4th event.
