President Barack Obama’s tenure in the White House took place from 2009 to 2017, and he ordered the military raid in which Al-Qaeda terrorist and mastermind Osama bin Laden was killed by US Navy SEALs. But Donald Trump is trying to take credit for it.
During remarks about his failing war in Iran, Trump bragged about ordering the killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani in 2020. However, rather than stop there, Trump falsely claimed that he should get the credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden as well.
“I did one other, but this one was not picked up: Osama bin Laden,” Trump said. “If you read my book, I said you got to take him out, one year before the World Trade Center came down. So I wish you’d read the book.”
Of course, not only did Trump NOT order the killing of bin Laden since he was not president in 2011 when President Obama ordered SEAL Team Six to raid his compound in Pakistan, but Trump did not even write about taking out bin Laden in his book before the September 11th attacks.
Both are lies Trump is apparently telling because he is obsessively jealous of Obama, who remains a popular commander in chief, whose photograph in the Situation Room during the raid remains iconic and one that Trump has desperately been trying to copy ever since.
CNN reporter Daniel Dale fact-checked Trump and called out his lies.
Trump cannot stand that he is loathed and despised while Obama is revered and popular. That is why he desperately wants a Nobel Peace Prize he doesn’t deserve, and it’s why he is trying to destroy everything Obama did or trying to take credit for it. Trump has no shame, and it’s long past time to remove him from office. Because, unlike Obama, Trump will be forgotten.
