ICE agents brutally murdered VA nurse Alex Pretti over the weekend, but Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins chose to shill for Donald Trump instead, drawing fierce backlash.
Pretti, an American citizen who did not have a criminal record, was executed in the streets of Minneapolis on Saturday as he tried to help a woman. ICE agents pinned him to the ground, took his registered firearm that he was legally able to carry out of its holster, and then shot him. They then proceeded to fire several more bullets into Pretti’s lifeless body.
Trump and the Department of Homeland Security responded by trying to cover up the murder, claiming that Pretti was a criminal because he was carrying a gun. Again, Pretti was legally carrying under Minnesota open-carry laws. He was not a threat.
Pretti worked as a nurse at a VA hospital in Minnesota. He cared for veterans and their families. He didn’t deserve to be murdered. But VA Secretary Doug Collins couldn’t even be bothered to defend his employee, blaming his death on state and local officials instead of the murderous ICE Gestapo.
“We can confirm Alex Pretti was a nurse at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center,” Collins said on social media. “As President Trump has said, nobody wants to see chaos and death in American cities, and we send our condolences to the Pretti family. Such tragedies are unfortunately happening in Minnesota because of state and local officials’ refusal to cooperate with the federal government to enforce the law and deport dangerous illegal criminals.”
Collins’ response to the killing is especially egregious and pathetic because he’s a former Air Force colonel and chaplain. He should not only know better when it comes to handling protesters and the rules of engagement, but he should also possess the morality and ethics to understand that this is murder and it’s wrong. In fact, it’s a commandment in the Bible.
His statement on the matter is unacceptable, and social media users let him know it, including military veterans and former VA officials.
Alex Pretti should still be alive today. He should still be taking care of veterans. But he’s not because ICE murdered him for absolutely no reason. It’s legal to film ICE, which is what he was doing. It’s also legal to open carry a gun in Minnesota, which Pretti also did. At no point did he draw his weapon to try to protect himself from Trump’s goons. ICE pinned him to the ground and removed the gun from its holster. Then they executed him. That’s what happened. And any Trump supporter who claims otherwise is nothing more than a Nazi bootlicker.
