As Donald Trump’s ICE Gestapo continues its murderous rampage across the country, JD Vance apparently didn’t see any hypocrisy when he dared to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day in a social media message.
ICE has jumped from state to state, detaining thousands of people, whether they are here legally or not, or whether they are American citizens or not. They have also used chemical weapons against protesters, assaulted protesters, and have even outright executed protesters. The most recent murder by ICE occurred in Minneapolis when Trump’s goons shot Alex Pretti to death.
The United States now has concentration camps, where everyone held has a lack of food, water, and medical attention. ICE agents have raped women and kidnapped children. And while Trump and his fascist sidekick JD Vance continue to defend ICE and threaten escalation, Vance had the gall to talk about Holocaust Remembrance Day on social media.
“Today we remember the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust, the millions of stories of individual bravery and heroism, and one of the enduring lessons of one of the darkest chapters in human history: that while humans create beautiful things and are full of compassion, we’re also capable of unspeakable brutality,” Vance said despite condoning the brutality that is happening in American streets at the hands of ICE. “And we promise never again to go down the darkest path.”
Except that we are going down that path right now. Rights are being stripped away. People are being disappeared by the government. Dissent is being punished. Even the military is being used against Americans. Trump and Vance are also completely supportive of the genocide Israel is committing against the Palestinian people.
And let’s not forget that Vance himself called Trump the “American Hitler” back in 2016. To ignore the reality of what’s happening in our country today because of Trump, all while “promising” the dark chapter of history known as the Holocaust will never happen again, is blatant hypocrisy and cowardice. History is already being repeated because Trump and Vance want to repeat it.
