Tatiana Kennedy Schlossberg, the middle daughter of Caroline Kennedy and granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy, tragically passed away after battling an incurable cancer. And Trump supporters are being a**holes about it.
Schlossberg heartbreakingly announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer that has no cure. She leaves behind two very young children, a son born in 2022 and a daughter born just last year in 2024. It’s yet another family tragedy for the Kennedy clan, but it didn’t stop MAGA supporters from spewing vicious remarks and pushing debunked conspiracies about COVID and mRNA vaccines, both of which they claim were the cause of her cancer.
As usual, Trump supporters are using a tragedy to push lies. There is absolutely no evidence that COVID and mRNA vaccines cause cancer. It’s a myth invented by anti-vaxxers to perpetuate their dangerous beliefs, beliefs that have given rise to the return of deadly childhood maladies such as measles, whooping cough, and polio.
In fact, vaccines even protect us from certain cancers, according to the Global Vaccine Data Network, which has thoroughly fact-checked and debunked the lie that mRNA vaccines cause cancer.
As for their claim that the COVID vaccine causes cancer, there is no evidence supporting that lie either. If anything, COVID vaccination saved lives, especially those living with cancer because COVID is especially dangerous to those with compromised immune systems or preexisting health conditions.
It’s also completely disrespectful to continue associating Trump’s name with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The institution is a memorial to John F. Kennedy and it remains so via federal law. Slapping Trump’s name on it is illegal and disgraceful.
Tatiana Kennedy Schlossberg lived up to her family name. She undoubtedly would have been even greater had she been given more than her 35 years. It’s a shame she will not be alive to see Trump’s name ripped off her grandfather’s memorial. We should honor her by ripping it down now.
