Donald Trump took a tour of Graceland, the iconic home of Elvis Presley, on Monday, and it quickly turned awkward and embarrassing as the tour guide basically had to treat him like a child to placate him.
During a visit to Memphis, as his war in Iran rages on and gas prices continue to soar in a continually sagging economy, Trump decided his time would be better spent taking a tour of Graceland. While touring the Jungle Room, a guide showed Trump the gold Social Security card that Elvis possessed.
“So this, this is Elvis’ Social Security card,” the guide explained. “The gold medal Social Security cards were not officially issued by the government, but they were a novelty item you could actually buy then because the paper ones that people would carry around with them would get messed up, and so this was Elvis’s.”
Of course, Trump has already ordered the creation of a “Gold card” for wealthy immigrants who want to fast-track their way to American citizenship for $1 million. Now, it appears Trump is interested in offering gold Social Security cards, based on his reaction to Elvis’s.
“Good idea,” Trump said. “Maybe we should do that again.”
The embarrassment didn’t end there, however. Trump has already desecrated Bibles and American flags by signing them, so he put his signature on a replica Elvis guitar and used the occasion to insult President Joe Biden.
“It’s a great honor,” Trump bragged. “Oh, that came out good. Look at that. Yeah, that looks nice. Oh, you never know. These are hard to sign. But they came out pretty good. Now, Biden couldn’t do that. He’d have to send it out to be signed.”
It should be pointed out that Trump has also used an auto-pen, so his gripes about Biden are incredibly childish. Speaking of childish, the tour guide actually had to treat Trump like a child to avoid bruising his fragile ego.
The moment came when the tour guide noted that Elvis had earned two black belts in karate. Trump asked, “Could I have taken him in a fight?”
“I think he would have been respectful enough to let you win,” the guide replied.
Trump buffooned his way through Graceland, but while Trump was fond of repeatedly telling everyone around him that he liked Elvis and his music, the difference between the two could not be wider. Unlike Trump, who dodged the draft five times to evade the Vietnam War, Elvis did not dodge the draft and served two years in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960.
And while Elvis is universally revered around the world, Donald Trump is despised. His desperation to tie himself to so many revered American figures is obvious, and it does nothing to help struggling Americans here at home, nor prevent the deaths of American soldiers in a war that he should have never begun.
