Despite Donald Trump’s promise of blanket pardons, his administration’s staffers fear they will be held accountable for their behavior and crimes, according to a new report.
Earlier this month, Trump reportedly promised his staffers would receive a blanket pardon before he leaves office, an admission that his administration is violating the Constitution and committing criminal acts.
But a new report from Zeteo reveals that many Trump officials don’t believe a pardon will protect them from prosecution and prison.
“Some of them have told me they’ve noticed a growing trend of Democratic politicians making public calls for aggressive prosecutions of Trumplanders in the future — a trend one Trump aide privately lamented as ‘kind of worrisome,'” Zeteo political correspondent Asawin Siebsaeng wrote.
“And a significant number of senior appointees working in Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon, in Stephen Miller’s White House, and in so many other departments and crime-laboratories of the Trump-Vance administration do not think that federal pardons will be enough,” he continued.
Indeed, Trump officials could very well face state prosecutions, which a pardon will not protect them from, and they could face prosecution at the International Criminal Court, particularly for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Frankly, Democrats should ignore Trump’s pardons. The president and his staff should not be able to commit crimes at will and get away with it. The pardon power was surely not meant to be used in this corrupt way. Allowing such a thing to stand would make the president no different than an authoritarian or monarch, something the Founding Fathers absolutely feared and despised.
Trump is literally running an organized crime syndicate in the White House. He’s violating constitutional rights and norms at will while destroying our heritage. Even his Republican supporters and voters should not be exempt from being held accountable in the harshest terms to send a clear message that this is unacceptable.
Trump and the GOP should be scared. So scared, in fact, that they should start booking flights to Russia. But even that shouldn’t deter us from chasing them down wherever they run to punish them for their treason against our nation. Failing to hold any of them accountable only guarantees it will happen again.
