Trump is just going to get away with it huh? As we all know, the election was a gambit for Donald Trump to a.) enrich himself and his allies and b.) stay out of prison. While New York could have technically forced him to serve his entire four years as President in a prison cell, it appears that is not going to happen. Trump’s NY criminal sentencing, delayed by concerns about “balancing” the guilty verdict with his presidency, will be rescheduled once the defense and prosecutor collaborate on how to handle having a felon as President.
Trump was scheduled to be sentenced for his 34 felony convictions in the state of New York on November 26 after he managed to delay the original date in July. He then convinced Judge Merchan to postpone the sentencing until after the election to avoid the perception of bias. Now, as the planned date of his sentencing is near, both parties approached the judge with a request to delay so they can struggle with the “balance” between Trump being a criminal and the challenges related to the presidential transition.
Merchan gave both parties until November 19 to provide a plan for how things should move forward in light of Trump’s election to office. Now, it seems, Trump may not face any real consequences for his actions at all.

Trump’s win was huge for him. His criminal case in Georgia is postponed until at least 2029, if it happens at all. Jack Smith is in the process of dropping the election interference case. What’s the point, after all? It’s federal and Trump can make it disappear or simply pardon himself and his co-conspirators. Aileen Cannon, a judge appointed by Trump, made the stolen documents trial disappear as a favor for The Donald earlier this year.
Trump has asked that his 34 felony counts be thrown out because he has “presidential Immunity” and because overturning the conviction is “necessary to avoid unconstitutional impediments to Trump’s ability to govern.”
Merchan needs to do the only right thing and sentence Trump to prison. He can serve his entire term as President from a jail cell. If Americans don’t like that, then they should have made better choices. We know what Trump was selling, and for some reason we were stupid enough to buy it.
