Gavin Newsom Torches Trump’s Hypocrisy On Caring For Children

Despite literally refusing to provide funding for SNAP recipients during the government shutdown so kids wouldn’t go hungry, Donald Trump dared to Bible-thump on Thursday to stress how important it is to care for children, only to be called out for his hypocrisy by California Governor Gavin Newsom.

There’s no question among people with reason and empathy that children should be taken care of, unless of course you’re Donald Trump and you want to starve children during a government shutdown. As the shutdown dragged on, Trump refused to disperse emergency funds to keep the SNAP program running so that families would not go hungry.

Just days after the shutdown concluded because eight cowardly Senate Democrats caved, Trump delivered remarks in which he suddenly remembered what the Bible says about caring for children.

“The Bible tells us that one of the measures of any society is how it cares for vulnerable children and orphans,” Trump said at the White House during an event. “So important, and it is so big in the Bible. So, as we make America great again, we’re going to protect American children in foster care and we’re going to ensure that they will never, ever be forgotten.”

Trump can’t just deny states SNAP funding, only to turn around to quote the Bible about caring for children and not expect to be called out for being a complete hypocrite. That’s exactly what Governor Gavin Newsom did on social media.

Indeed, and even when the courts ordered him to disperse the emergency funds, Trump refused, electing to let children go hungry rather than care for them. And let’s not forget that Trump raped children with his buddy Jeffrey Epstein. That’s not taking care of children either.
