Convicted pedophiles now face the death penalty in Florida, and now the Republican lawmaker who championed it has been arrested on charges of child molestation.
As a member of the state legislature, Mike Caruso helped push a law to apply the death penalty in pedophilia cases, including child molestation and rape. It was already ironic since Caruso represented the district in Palm Beach where Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort is located.
As we all know, Trump is a rapist and pedophile named in the Epstein files over 38,000 times, the most of any name in the documents that the Department of Justice is desperately hiding even though Congress passed a law last year ordering the release of the files.
But now the new death penalty law is especially ironic because Caruso was arrested Tuesday morning, the same day as the Florida primary election, for allegedly molesting his own grandson. That means Caruso faces the death penalty if convicted of the charges.
“As a FL legislator, Mike Caruso supported death penalty for pedophiles in 2023,” Axios reporter Marc Caputo wrote on social media. “Now he has been arrested for allegedly molesting his grandson. The state plans to present the case to a grand jury and that could lead to his own execution if he’s charged and convicted under that law.
That’s got to be one of the biggest oops moments in history, and it makes one wonder how many more Republican lawmakers in Florida are pedophiles. Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who is also a Trump ally, is close with Caruso and appointed him as clerk of courts and comptroller of Palm Beach County in 2025. This arrest makes him look bad, too.
This isn’t a one-off incident either. Several Trump supporters across the country have been arrested for child molestation and abuse in recent years. In Florida, a county sheriff recently highlighted Trump’s connection to a human trafficking arrest. Trump’s own campaign even sent a email to pedophiles begging them for money and support.
Clearly, the Republican Party is infested with pedophiles, and Florida Republicans voted to pass a law allowing the death penalty for pedophiles. They may have thought they would be immune to consequences for their own sick behavior. Now, they’re likely regretting their vote.
