Racist Pete Hegseth Attacks Obama To Defend Trump’s Capitulation In Iran

A simple question about Donald Trump’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz in Iran caused Pete Hegseth to disrespectfully attack former President Barack Obama in a hypocritical tirade during an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday.

Trump’s unprovoked war against Iran has now been dragging on for months, with Trump frequently claiming “victory” and insisting that a peace deal is forthcoming. Meanwhile, gas prices in the United States and around the world are still high. Inflation is higher than it was under former President Joe Biden, grocery prices are high, and our military is weaker.

As Trump touts a new supposed peace deal, his top crony, Pete Hegseth, took questions during an appearance on “Face the Nation” to defend Trump’s actions, only to pivot to attacking Obama when Margaret Brennan asked if Trump would end the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to allow oil to come through if Iran signed the deal.

“So, unlike Obama, President Trump is smart about these things,” Hegseth said. “He’s not gonna just give it away, so ultimately the blockade will stay as the strait opens, and then the blockade will open. And then the straits open, and if that takes, you know, 30 days to fully mature or two weeks to fully mature, but it will start immediately as the president has said.“

In fact, Trump’s “deal” with Iran gives away far more than Obama ever conceded in the JCPOA agreement that Trump tore up after taking office in his first term in 2017. While Republicans constantly whined about Obama giving Iran $1.3 billion in cash, Trump’s deal would give Iran up to $24 billion.

Furthermore, Trump’s attack on Iran is the reason why the Strait of Hormuz was closed in the first place. Had Trump not attacked Iran at all, Iran would still not have a nuclear weapon, and gas prices would not have shot through the roof. And if Trump had just left the JCPOA agreement in place, we wouldn’t have any conflict with Iran at all since the Iranians were abiding by the terms, according to United Nations inspectors.

So, to recap, Trump tore up the JCPOA that Iran was abiding by, launched an attack on Iran even though it didn’t have a nuclear weapon, caused the Strait of Hormuz to close, and is now giving Iran a multi-billion-dollar windfall of cash, twenty times the amount Republicans complained about Obama giving them. And this is considered a “victory” by Trump and Hegseth?
