Trump Gets Caught Falsely Claiming That A Former President Supports His Iran Folly

Donald Trump made an outrageous claim that a former president of the United States told him they support his war in Iran, only for all four living presidents to deny that any such conversation took place.

The war in Iran is going badly for Trump. Thirteen American soldiers are dead. War crimes have been committed. Gas prices are soaring. And most of our allies are rejecting Trump’s pleas for help.

Faced with so much humiliation, Trump is desperate for any kind of affirmation that he made a good decision, even if that decision was made for Israel instead of the American people.

And so, it seems Trump is now just making more sh*t up by bragging to reporters that a former president contacted him to offer their support.

“Look, for 47 years, no president was willing to do what I’m doing, and they should have done it a long time ago,” Trump said during a Kennedy Center board meeting at the White House. “It would have been a lot easier. There’s no president that wanted to do it. And yet every president knew. I’ve spoken to a certain president, who I like, actually, a past president, a former president. He said, ‘I wish I did it, I wish I did,’ but they didn’t do it. I’m doing it.”

There are only four living former presidents: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. However, Trump refused to reveal the name of the former commander-in-chief who supposedly spoke to him.

“I don’t want to embarrass him,” Trump said. “It would be very bad for his career, even though he’s got no career.”

Of course, all one has to do is ask the representatives of these four ex-presidents if Trump is telling the truth. Surprise! He’s lying. It turns out representatives of all four anonymously denied that any contact with Trump has taken place. Yet, Trump continued to repeat his claim and again refused to name the ex-president he allegedly spoke with.

“It’s somebody that happens to like me,” Trump claimed. “And I like that person, who’s a smart person. But that person said, ‘I wish I did it,’ OK, but I don’t want to get into who, OK. I don’t want to get them into trouble.”

Trump is obviously desperate to gin up public support for his unpopular war in Iran, so he’s hoping to piggyback off of his more popular predecessors without specifically naming one. But it should also be noted that Trump is also a former president who spent four years in the White House from 2017 to 2021. And he’s a notorious narcissist and egomaniac who only cares about himself.

It seems Trump may be projecting a bit here. He’s the one who wanted to invade Iran, only he didn’t do it in his first term. That dementia is setting in so hard now that the former president Trump is talking about is quite possibly himself. Either way, whether it’s a straight lie or his dementia, he clearly doesn’t belong in power.
