If Donald Trump is thinking he should get a “Profile in Courage” award, he should think about something else, because JFK’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, laughed at the very suggestion.
Trump has been obsessed with the Kennedy family legacy. He has attempted to either destroy it or tie himself to it to elevate his own legacy, which is trash and always will be. He paved over the Rose Garden, installed by First Lady Jackie Kennedy, to build an ugly patio. Even more egregiously, Trump plastered his own name on the Kennedy Center, desecrating what has been a memorial to President John F. Kennedy for decades.
In addition, Trump is also obsessed with awards he hasn’t earned. He has demanded a Nobel Peace Prize and has mused about awarding himself a Medal of Honor and Purple Heart despite being a five-time draft dodger who has never served in the military.
Now, it seems Trump also would like a “Profiles in Courage” award, an honor bestowed on individuals by the Kennedy family. But when a news host asked New York Democratic Congressional candidate Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of JFK, if Trump should be considered, he laughed at the idea and explained what Trump would have to do to even have a chance.
“If President Trump admitted to the many crimes and the grift that he has committed while president in office, stepped down and handed over the power of the presidency to somebody responsible and not somebody in his own cabinet,” Schlossberg said. “If he came forward with all the true reasons behind his pick for RFK Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services, and who is paying for the words that are coming out of RFK Jr.’s mouth, then maybe that would be some kind of courage that we would consider. But to be honest, I don’t think he’s in the running anytime soon.”
Indeed, Trump in no way deserves a “Profiles in Courage” award. It would be another insult to JFK and would render the honor meaningless. Trump deserves prison, not honors.
