Crowd size is something Donald Trump values most, so it must have been demoralizing when he spoke to only 3,000 people in Arizona during a Turning Points USA event on Friday night.
Trump has frequently been obsessed with crowd size for years. At his first inauguration in 2017, he drew a pathetic crowd to the nation’s Capitol. His supporters used to fill venues for him, but even they are getting sick and tired of hearing him rant about his grievances and tell lies.
The event in Arizona should have been packed, as one would expect if the president were, say, President Obama or Bill Clinton. Even George W. Bush would be a greater draw. Trump, however, could only muster two-thirds capacity at a church, according to the Washington Post. It’s a pathetic crowd size that speaks volumes as his own supporters abandon him.
It’s no secret that Trump’s own supporters are turning on him. It’s certainly about time. After all, he’s done more than enough to earn their wrath. Trump has engulfed the country in a war with Iran that no one wanted or voted for. The war has caused gas prices to soar across the country, hitting his supporters right where it hurts the most: their wallets.
The price of just about everything is up compared to just over a year ago. Inflation is worse, not better. Trump is also still mired in the Epstein files scandal and recently committed acts of blasphemy by depicting himself as Jesus Christ.
Trump is focusing more on building monuments to himself and slapping his name on everything than he is on helping the American people. Of course, we’ve known this for years and have repeatedly warned his supporters that he doesn’t care about them. He only cares about himself. They didn’t believe it. Now they’re finally seeing it.
But it’s too late. Short of them rushing the White House and dragging him kicking and screaming from office, there’s nothing Trump supporters or even former Trump supporters can ever do to escape the shame of the damage their ignorance and hatred have done to our country.
As for Trump, he has to have noticed that his crowds are shrinking. If not, he’s in denial. Whatever spell he cast on the voters who supported him is breaking. The problem is it’s too late, and now they are paying the consequences.
