Amid His Own Panic Over Iran, Trump Muses About Awarding Himself The Medal Of Honor

As chaos reigns in his ongoing folly in Iran, Donald Trump is reportedly still fantasizing about awarding himself a Medal of Honor he absolutely does not deserve.

Trump is desperate to secure any kind of victory over Iran, even resorting to making sh*t up on social media that the Iranians have had to repeatedly deny. Americans overwhelmingly oppose this war, and it’s taking a toll on the economy and our relationships with allies.

The Strait of Hormuz remains closed, and gas prices are still on the rise. It’s a debacle that has severely weakened the United States on the international stage. Yet as one of the more harrowing events of the war was playing out after an American pilot was shot down in Iran, Trump did not rise to the moment.

Instead, he chose to panic and throw a temper tantrum before slipping into fantasizing about awarding himself the Medal of Honor as some sort of coping mechanism, according to a damning new report by the Wall Street Journal.

“Trump screamed at aides for hours. The Europeans aren’t helping, he said repeatedly. Gas prices averaged $4.09,” the report said. “Images of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis – one of the biggest international policy failures of a presidency in recent times – had been looming large in his mind, people who have spoken to him said.”

“Aides kept the president out of the room as they got minute-by-minute updates because they believed his impatience wouldn’t be helpful, instead updating him at meaningful moments, a senior administration official said,” the report continued. “He has made risky pronouncements without input from his national security team – including his post about plans to destroy the Iranian civilization – saying seeming unstable could help spur the Iranians to negotiate.”

“At one point, he even mused he should award himself the nation’s highest military honor, the Medal of Honor,” the Journal said.

Trump is clearly unstable. Aides should not have to keep the president out of the room. But because Trump is impatient and unhelpful during a crisis, they had no choice. It’s also not the first time Trump has mused about awarding himself the Medal of Honor. He’s done this on at least a couple of occasions this year alone, even hijacking a Medal of Honor ceremony during the State of the Union Address to remind the nation how badly he wants one.

The pilot fighting to survive in Iran wouldn’t have been there if Trump hadn’t launched an unprovoked attack in the first place. Thankfully, American forces were able to recover the pilot, not because of Trump, but despite him. The Medal of Honor is for service members who go above and beyond the call of duty at great risk of losing their own lives. Trump does not fit that description.
