One tenet of communism is that the government takes ownership of private companies. Donald Trump has directed the US government to own stock in private companies. Therefore, Trump is a communist, and he bragged about it openly on Air Force One on Sunday.
Ever since Democratic candidates began winning on the strong message of healthcare and taxing the wealthy, Republicans have been desperately reviving scare words such as “communism” to attack them. Trump himself has repeatedly accused the Democratic Party of being communist.
Of course, if Trump and his MAGA allies ever bothered to learn the definition of communism, they’d realize that the definition fits them more than it does the Democrats. After all, Trump is an authoritarian who has gangs of armed thugs on the streets killing and arresting American citizens. Trump is also trying to build monuments to himself and is slapping his name on everything he can, just like a communist dictator would do.
On Sunday, Trump bragged about doing something else that communist dictators do. During a flight on Air Force One, Trump told reporters about the investments the government has made under his direction.
“I make good deals,” Trump said. “With Intel, I made $75 billion. For the country, I didn’t make it for me. I made it for the country. I backed Intel. It’s the hottest stock right now on the stock exchange. So, we made about $75 billion to $80 billion.”
First of all, Trump is NOT good at making deals. Nearly every business venture he has pursued has been a failure, and his “deal making” as president has been equally terrible and more disastrous. Just ask Iran.
Furthermore, investing in a private company means you own a piece of that company, no matter how small. That means the US government owns part of Intel, a private company, which gives the government some power over that company. Governments owning all or part of a private company is communism, and Trump just admitted it. He’s the communist, not Democrats.
And you can bet that Americans will never see a dime of that $75 billion because Trump likely pocketed it himself as part of the illegal profits he’s pilfered as president.
